The Road is Episode 02 of LovedPack's original film series, following a woman and her dog along California's Pacific Coast Highway through Palos Verdes.
She gets into the car.
A seatbelt clicks.
1 New Voicemail
A man's voice breaks through the quiet.
“Hey. I know you're probably somewhere with the dog.” “I just wanted to hear your voice.”
The engine starts.
She pulls onto the road.
Then the phone vibrates again.
She glances at the back seat. Then back at the road.
She turns up the volume until the ringing disappears beneath it.
The coastline opens up. The car eventually leaves PCH for the bluffs of Palos Verdes, where the dog runs through the grass while she follows with a camera.
There is dust. Wind. Sunset.
A brief stop. The LovedPack bag opens. The Field Kit comes out. Reset Cloud Powder, brushed through the coat.
Then they keep moving.
By evening, she's sitting on the hood of the car, the dog beside her, the sun dropping into the ocean.
In the back seat, the phone rings.
Incoming Call
It rings again. And again.
No one answers.
She keeps watching the horizon.

About the Story
The Road is a story about what we carry with us — and what we eventually decide to leave behind.
The voicemail asks for her attention.
The road keeps pulling it elsewhere.
There is no confrontation. No explanation of what happened before the drive. We only know that somewhere along the California coast, she makes a choice not to go backward.
The dogs never asks what the message said.
They do not need to.
There is somewhere to go next.
Sometimes freedom is not a dramatic departure. Sometimes it is simply continuing down the road.
